A Louisiana cop resigned yesterday after local news station WBRZ uncovered text messages he had sent urging colleagues to pull a Ferguson on black residents.

Other messages sent by 15-year veteran Michael Elsbury of the Baton Rouge Police Department said that blacks are nothing but a bunch of monkeys, and the only reason they have this job is the n*gger, n*gger in them.

The messages were sent to a female friend of Elsbury, who turned her phone over to police on Monday after WBRZ publicized the texts.

The Baton Rouge Police Department placed Elsbury on administrative leave two days later, and he resigned Thursday afternoon. Elsbury had patrolled the predominantly black Southern University.

According to Raw Story, Police Chief Carl Dabadie said,

"It was gut-wrenching to believe that someone had that much hate in them, especially a police officer who is out there enforcing the law every day. It made me sick to my stomach."

Dabadie added that he hopes the community understands that this is in no way a reflection of the rest of his officers and appreciates the way it was handled.

The worst of Elsburys texts reads,

"I wish someone would pull a Ferguson on them and take them out. I hate looking at those African monkeys at work I enjoy arresting those thugs with their saggy pants."

Elsbury is now being investigated for criminal charges.

The resignation came on the same day as a rally for Victor White III, who police falsely claimed to have shot himself dead while he was handcuffed.
