News 12 Bronx anchor Matt Pieper didn't realize he was on the air while he slammed people on welfare and dropped the F-word on Wednesday.
Pieper and the rest of the crew apparently thought the newscast was in commercials, but they were actually live while preparing for a segment about school-crossing guards (video below).
"And Dave wants you to also mention that parents need to do their f-------- jobs and walk their little kids to school on their own, and not rely on everyone else, kind of like people rely on government assistance for their entire lives, said Piper, noted Mediaite.com
According to the New York Daily News
, reporter Amy Yensi laughed, I think I qualify for government assistance.
Just check that box, girl, added Pieper.
The viewer who was recording the broadcast can be heard stating, "Did he just say that? Homeboy doesn't know that he is still being recorded."
News 12 later issued an apology on Facebook
As a result of a technical error during a program break this morning, a personal conversation between an anchor and a reporter was unintentionally placed on the air. The conversation included offensive language and inappropriate commentary. News 12 the Bronx deeply regrets that this incident took place. The remarks of these individuals in no way reflect the views of News 12 management or other News 12 personnel. Steps have been taken to deal with the employees involved and resolve the technical issues.
