The world is doing what it can to get reach the point when people are no longer discriminated against based on whatever trait we arbitrarily deem as undesirable, but its going to be a while before that transition is complete. (I'd say we still have a couple million years to go.)
While we wait for the world to magically become homogenous, there are still a few cultural differences that we're going to have to deal with.
You can tell yourself you're beyond race, but you have to immerse yourself in another culture for a while before you can truly understand it.
