The thieves were caught on CCTV smashing the patio door with a screwdriver before stealing car keys and returning three days later for a vehicle

This is the moment a gang brazenly broke into a family's home - only to come back and steal a car off their driveway three days later.

The gang of four men were captured on CCTV using a screwdriver to break into the house in Bolton, Manchester.

And it is believed they targeted the property especially for the Audi cars parked outside - ignoring a laptop and iPad in the smash-and-grab raid.

The thieves first struck at 2.20pm on Wednesday September 24, knocking on the front door to establish no-one was home before climbing over the gate of the property in Farnworth.

They then used what is thought to be a screwdriver to smash the patio doors, the Manchester Evening News reports.

In the house for less than two minutes, they stole a piggybank and briefcase containing jewelry, documents and spare keys to the family's two Audi's.

Unfortunately the home-owners, a family of four who do not want to be identified, only realized the spare keys had been taken when the thieves returned on Saturday.

While the family was in the house, the gang strolled up the front drive and casually unlocked one of the Audis before driving away.

But their actions were captured on CCTV - and the family is now appealing for anyone who recognizes the thieves to contact police.

The Audi which was taken was a black A5 convertible and has since been found.

The family's other car has been moved to a hidden location to have the lock code changed as the thieves still have the spare keys.

The 42-year-old homeowner said: "I think they targeted the house because of the cars - there was a laptop and iPad in the lounge, which they didn't take."

"The kids are completely shaken up at the moment."

"They were just getting over what happened on Wednesday and now this happened."

"These thieves have invaded our privacy and taken what I worked very hard to buy."
