Society has reached a point where its engineered a number of custom vibrating sensations people can use to alert themselves to a wide variety of messages. It has not, however, been able to eliminate the plague of ringing smartphones wreaking havoc on eardrums everywhere.
It doesn't matter if its the ubiquitous Apple text alert or Samsung's infinitely more annoying whistle based on the number of alerts I encounter over the course of a day, you'd think the American Revolution was fought to give people the freedom to receive texts in an inconsiderate manner.
I will admit there is one upside to people who decline to switch their phones to vibrate: They're so much easier to mess with.
Whatever did exactly that when they walked by random people and played the generic text tone we've all come to know and love.
The conclusion? People think they're a whole lot more popular than they actually are.
