A naked man, identified as Derrick Weems, was tased by police officers yesterday at the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta, Georgia.
Traveler Gregory Evans shot a video (below) of Weems yelling about going to heaven and loving Jesus at around 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, reports WSB-TV
Atlanta police spokeswoman Kim Jones told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution
that officers were called when Weems "suddenly appeared nude and began yelling and acting erratically."
Jones added that police tried to calm Weems down, but "used a Taser to control the situation without a struggle, and for the safety of other passengers."
Police took Weems to a local hospital for a mental evaluation, and then to the city jail. He was later released.
Some travelers at the airport say it took 30 minutes for police to arrive, but the cops claim they were there in seven minutes.
"No security, no police or nothing," stated Evans, who shot the video.
"If he's in that situation, unclothed in a public position and acting like that, I would think that he's a danger to anybody in and around that concourse," added traveler Bernard Roberts. "If he's on a plane that would not have been good."
