November 21, 2014: A US sheriff has been caught on security camera struggling to break down a door while the suspect makes a slow getaway right behind him.

A couple of cops in the US state of Missouri tried to break a suspect's door down and enter his home without realising them man they wanted was standing right in front of them.

A security camera captured two Moniteau County deputy sheriffs roll up at the house and try to break through the front door.

With a flying a kick, one sheriff tried to bust the door down.

But instead he bounced back and fell to the ground, knocking a motorbike over at the same time.

Watching on was the suspect himself an elderly man with a walking stick.

The man picked up his bike as the cop grabbed a pole to use as a battering ram.

Breaking through the door, the sheriff deputy ran inside and called for his partner to come in too.

Meanwhile, their suspect wheeled his bike away and got out of dodge while the sheriffs searched for him inside the dwelling.

The footage was posted to YouTube yesterday, with one commenter summing up the whole situation.

"No suprise there (sic)," they wrote.

"I live in Moniteau county. Dealing with them is like dealing with the keystone cops."
