Jay Z sat down to talk for “Oprah Winfrey’s Master Class” and had some interesting points to make about the role of hip-hop in racial politics.
Jay believes hip-hop, more than any individual besides Martin Luther King Jr., has had a positive influence on race relations in America and abroad.
Jay said hip-hop allows people of different colors and creeds to bond with one another and realize we’re all more alike than we are different.
Jay Z also mentioned racism is a learned behavior taught in the home.
But, if a white kid grows up listening to a rapper like Snoop Dogg, he is much less likely to harbor a prejudice against black people. That is the power of this music.
